In an interview with Newsmax, Santos appeared to add to the list of fabrications, claiming to have recently had a friendly conversation with Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema during President Biden's State of the Union address.
Sinema's office denied that the conversation ever took place.
Santos is also facing several accusations of campaign finance violations, which he denies.
He claims that money that powered his campaign was legitimately obtained through his company, which he said loaned him funding.
He described himself as "simple-minded" and said that he wants to represent other people like him who have a voice in Congress.
The accusations against Santos have come from members of his own party, with demands for his resignation and labels such as "sick puppy" and "sociopath" being used.
In contrast, Santos characterises himself as "simple-minded".
The supposed conversation with Sinema adds to the growing controversy surrounding the freshman congressman, who is under scrutiny for alleged financial misdeeds.
