Flash floods caused by torrential rains swept through two provinces in Turkey that were recently devastated by an earthquake, leading to the death of 14 people, with several others still missing.
Among the victims were quake survivors, including five Syrian nationals.
Floodwater washed away cars, containers, and debris and inundated homes, buildings, and hospitals, leaving thousands of people homeless.
The disaster management agency and rescue teams launched an operation to search and rescue people, with divers deployed to search flooded areas.
At least two sources reported that 14 people died, while one source reported that 16 people had died.
The number of missing people also varies between sources, with some reporting five and others two or three.
While most of the deaths occurred in Sanliurfa province, some also took place in Adiyaman province, where flooding swept away a converted shipping container that was housing a family of earthquake survivors.
Some of the articles highlight the fact that this is a double tragedy for the people of the region, who are already facing the impact of a recent earthquake.
"Increasing misery for thousands who were left homeless", wrote Gulf News, while The Independent stated that the floods hit provinces that were already "devastated" by the earthquake.
Some reports emphasise the severity and suddenness of the floods.
"Floodwater carried away cars and debris and inundated the basement and ground floors of some buildings, turning roads into rivers", wrote The Independent.
