A 72-year-old man suspected of killing 10 people and injuring another 10 in a mass shooting at a dance studio in Monterey Park, California was found dead inside a van after a police standoff in nearby Torrance.
The shooting happened on Saturday evening during Lunar New Year celebrations within the city's Asian American community.
Police believe the suspect, identified as Huu Can Tran, had previously frequented the establishment where the shooting happened.
A second incident in the nearby suburb of Alhambra, where a man with a gun was disarmed by patrons at a dance hall, is believed to be connected to the mass shooting in Monterey Park.

The suspect, identified as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, was found dead in a van following a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a police standoff in Torrance.
Police believe that the suspect had previously frequented the dance studio where the shooting happened.
A handgun, which may be illegal in California, was found on the suspect's person while another handgun was also discovered in the van.
A separate incident in the nearby suburb of Alhambra involving a man with a gun who was disarmed by patrons at a dance studio is believed to be connected to the mass shooting.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna confirmed that some witnesses had described the Monterey Park shooter as an Asian male between the ages of 30 and 50, but recent reports say that he was 72.
