FTX founder faces new charges and restrictions on bail
Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of FTX cryptocurrency exchange, faces new fraud and conspiracy charges over the collapse of his now-bankrupt exchange, bringing the total number of charges to 12. Bankman-Fried is also accused of making tens of millions of dollars in illegal political donations to buy influence in Washington, D.C. Prosecutors and Bankman-Fried's defense team have proposed restrictions on his bail, including the use of a flip phone and a basic laptop with limited functions, to prevent him from communicating in ways that cannot be monitored.
