In contrast, Russia denied hitting the drone intentionally and said that the crash occurred because of "sharp maneuvering.
" This incident marked the first known physical contact between the US and Russian militaries since the war in Ukraine began.
Following the incident, the Kremlin said that Russia's relationship with the US was in a "lamentable state.
" The United States condemned the downing, and Russia warned the US to keep its aircraft away from its claimed airspace.
