Son of El Chapo Extradited to US on Drug Trafficking Charges
Ovidio Guzmán López, son of former Sinaloa cartel leader Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán, has been extradited to the US to face drug trafficking charges. Guzmán López, known as 'the Mouse', pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking, money laundering, and other charges during his first court appearance. The extradition comes after US prosecutors unsealed indictments against Guzmán López and his brothers, who are collectively known as the 'Chapitos'. The indictments revealed that the brothers had steered the cartel towards synthetic drugs like methamphetamine and fentanyl following their father's extradition and life sentence in the US in 2019.
