Ofcom to investigate Amazon, Microsoft and Google's dominance in cloud services
UK regulator Ofcom is set to launch a market study into the dominance of Amazon, Microsoft and Google in cloud services, which together account for around 81% of revenue in the UK public cloud infrastructure services market. The study will assess how well the market is working and any barriers to new entrants into the sector. Ofcom will also investigate messaging services such as WhatsApp, FaceTime and Zoom, as well as smart speakers and connected televisions, to ensure their effects on consumer behaviour do not distort the market for TV, radio and online content.
