US Secretary of State visits Turkey after earthquake
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Turkey to show support after a devastating earthquake killed over 46,000 people in Turkey and Syria. Blinken pledged $185 million in humanitarian aid, and discussed the stalled NATO bids of Sweden and Finland, which Turkey has so far refused to ratify. Blinken also reaffirmed the US commitment to delivering F-16 jets to Turkey, despite Turkish insistence that their approval should not depend on the lifting of objections to Sweden joining NATO.
