Heat-health alert issued for England as temperatures soar
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Met Office have issued a heat-health alert for six regions of England, as temperatures are expected to reach 30C over the next few days. The alert is aimed at reducing illness and deaths among the most vulnerable, including over-65s and those with pre-existing conditions. The alert applies to London, the East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, the South East and South West. The UKHSA has issued a yellow heat alert, meaning people should be aware of the potential effects of hot weather on themselves and their vulnerable friends and family.
